Product Recommendations
In order to serve you better ...
You can also find a number of product recommendations listed on the shopping page
of DyingToLookGood.com.
If
you want more product recommendations from Dr. Farlow, than those listed on the shopping page, check out Dying To
Look Good "Best Brands". These products have all been pre-screened for ingredient safety.
If you want to spend time doing your own research, you can check out the Skin Deep Database. However, you have to be careful to interpret the information correctly.
For example, a score of "0" may or may NOT mean that the product has
all healthy ingredients. Most of the time there's a large data gap.
That means there's little or no research or safety information
available on the ingredients. Sometimes the ingredients may be all
herbs and essential oils which have a history of thousands of years of
safe use, but which not been evaluated by the Cosmetic Ingredient
Review. (NOTE:
The Cosmetic Ingredient Review is the industry's self-proclaimed
watchdog which has done a very poor job of reviewing ingredients for
safety.) Other times
the ingredients may include some of the thousands of synthetic
chemicals that are allowed in cosmetics and personal care products, but
have not been studied for safety. To use this database effectively, you
should check the score and the data gap. Look at the ingredients. See
what's said about toxicity, irritation and data gaps. This
can be a useful resource if you take the time to thoroughly read all
the information on the products and feel confident interpreting it.
Nonetheless, if you want to find safe and healthy products quickly,
without spending a lot of time, this is probably NOT for you.
If you just want to know which products are the healthiest and the very safest to use, without doing a lot of research or checking ingredients, then Dying To Look Good "Best Brands" is your best choice. It's the revised and updated product
listing from
the Dying To Look Good book, 2006 edition. All these products were newly researched in April and May 2009.
You don't need a copy of Dying To Look Good to benefit from Dying
To Look Good "Best Brands". However, if a product you're interested in
is not listed in Dying
To Look Good "Best Brands" and you
want to know if the ingredients are safe, you can use Dying
To Look Good to check the ingredients.
If
you've checked the ingredients in Dying To Look Good and you
